March 2008
Dear Business Professional:
On behalf of our many business partners and the entire City of Yonkers, I am pleased to announce our ninth annual Yonkers Business Week event which will take place from May 5th to May 9th. This year’s forum, Yonkers Business Week 2008 --- “Building for the Future” --- is the New York metropolitan area’s only week-long opportunity that is specifically designed to help business professionals like yourself maintain, strengthen and grow their businesses.
It has been my privilege to serve the people of the great City of Yonkers as the Mayor for the past four years. The unmatched economic expansion that our City has enjoyed during this period has been capped by proposed and current development and redevelopment that surpasses the $5 billion mark. As a participant in Yonkers Business Week 2008 you are part of the area’s most vital and booming economy --- an economy that, for the last four years, has earned Yonkers the status as ‘#1’ in job growth and total employment among New York’s big cities.
Along with our partners in the federal and state governments, Yonkers provides the tools that business needs to continue growing. Doing business in Yonkers adds to the overall health of our City and helps the engine of our local economy continue to move forward. Please know that my administration remains 100% committed to continue our City’s economic growth. In the City of Yonkers we appreciate local businesses!
Yonkers Business Week 2008 will have a number of special events; please be sure to register early as space is often limited. On Thursday, May 8th we will be recognizing some of our outstanding business leaders at our annual Yonkers Business Week Awards Dinner; please plan on attending, if your schedule permits.
This is an exciting time for our City and I am looking forward to seeing you at many “Building for the Future” Yonkers Business Week 2008 events.
Sincerely,

Philip A. Amicone
Mayor
